Hello CET Blog! My name is Carly Longman and I use she/her pronouns. I am currently a junior at the University of Massachusetts Amherst where I study Linguistics as well as Romance Language and Interpretation. I just got off of a semester abroad in Paris, France and am preparing to turn 180 degrees towards a completely different life and language in São Paulo. When I am at school I am a member of the Varsity Debate team and I conduct experiments for the Linguistics laboratory on campus. I love travel and am looking forward to exploring the amazing country that is Brazil.

Hi everyone! My name is Sophie and I’m finishing up my sophomore year with CET Colombia. I was born in North Carolina and go to college there as well. In my spare time, I like singing, watching YouTube, dancing, and learning languages. I also swam competitively for 6 years, hate the cold, and love taking photographs and making videos to document special moments in my life – especially because I don’t have the best memory. Writing is something I have developed a love for over the years and I hope that through these posts, you all will be able to fall in love with Colombia before you even come.

Hi, my name is Abby and I am currently a junior at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. Besides moving from my home in South Florida to my school in Nashville, I have had the opportunity to travel to many different lands in lots of unique ways. After road tripping across the U.S. (I’ve been to every state in America!), hiking the Incan Trail to Machu Picchu, spending a summer farming on an Israeli kibbutz, backpacking across ten beautiful and distinct Portuguese cities, I am excited to call Prague my next big adventure. I love cooking, photographing, and eating foods from around the world. I’m no professional photographer by any means, but I hope to capture some of the renowned natural beauty and warm friendships that I find in Prague.

Hi, my name is Lauren Bauer and I am from sunny Southern California. I am studying medicine at Vanderbilt University in hopes of continuing on to Medical School and becoming a surgeon. Other than participating in medical research revolving around lung transplantation at Vanderbilt Medical Center, I spend my time on campus as a leader in my sorority and a founder/member of various service organizations. I also have a passion for art history and while abroad in Florence I will be taking three art history courses and spending tons of time in museums. Some of my long-term interests include working in education, policy, or law.
