resident director, cet beijing

The CET Beijing Resident Director (RD) is primarily responsible for managing all student life aspects of the CET Beijing program. The RD serves as CET’s primary liaison for the program and communicates the needs of students with DC headquarters. While the faculty work directly with students on most academic issues, the RD handles all nonacademic issues, such as on-site emergencies, orientation, excursions, housing, and general student advising. The RD meets frequently with students (both informally and during office hours) and helps manage CET’s relationship with Capital Normal University (CNU) and our other local partners. The RD supports the operation of the Foreign Service language training program run by CET, as needed. The RD also has duties related to custom programs, which operate on a case-by-case basis.

Organization Benefits and Culture

Supportive Culture

We recruit hard-working, challenge-seeking staff who love study abroad and have their own experiences to share. The pace of work is fast and the details exacting, but the culture is supportive. Need help? Ask a colleague, your manager…or even our President. Her door is always open.

Benefits for Work-Life Balance

A reduced-hours workweek (30 hours per week). 12 weeks of paid Parental Leave. 5 weeks of Paid Time Off to start. Flexible work arrangements. And absolutely no pressure from management to check email after hours. When we say we support work-life balance, we mean it.

Excellent Management

People don’t leave companies, they leave managers. So we support our management team with ongoing professional development that helps them meet our high expectations—that managers listen openly, communicate directly, and empower staff to problem-solve and grow.

World Impact

We are an eco-certified organization with ongoing initiatives to diversify staff, promote sustainability, and give back to local communities. Want to work for a company that cares about the world? Look no further.

A CET Career Path

We do everything we can to retain high-performing staff members. And as a fast-growing company, we frequently offer opportunities that allow us to do just that. New programs, initiatives, and positions mean that there are plenty of ways for staff to develop professionally…even across the globe. In fact, many CET staff members have launched their careers in overseas positions and advanced to US-based positions, or vice versa. Other staff have stayed in one location but switched teams as their interests changed. If staff longevity is a test of company success, we think we’ve passed with flying colors.

Internships at CET

Interested in launching a career in education abroad? Did you love your own study abroad experience and want to learn about the behind-the-scenes? Consider interning for CET.

We offer paid internships in our Washington, DC office during the fall, spring and summer terms. It is our belief that interns should be provided with structured responsibilities, clear direction, and useful evaluation and feedback. We look to interns to provide insight about today’s students. See our open internship positions below:
