You conduct a part-time internship, take on an in-class component that helps you maximize your on-the-job contributions, and identify your academic and professional priorities—all as you prepare for your undergraduate career.
Gap students can virtually intern with organizations across three different countries—Czech Republic, Greater China, and Jordan. Here are just a few places you might intern:
Intermediate Arabic proficiency preferred.
NAFE’s mission is to promote human rights and gender equality and empower women and youth by facilitating their inclusion in economic, social, and political arenas. NAFE works with partners to make the vision of Sustainable Development Goals a reality for women and girls focusing on the following strategic priorities:

- Participation in democratic and local decision-decision making processes
Address the educational, psychosocial, health and other basic humanitarian needs of Middle Eastern children and women in both war-torn and impoverished areas, by providing women and children with the tools to develop their community in a sustainable manner to create dynamic social change and sustainable community development.

Partners-Jordan is a Jordanian not for profit organization committed to the advancement of civil society, promotion of mediation, conflict management and culture of change, and encouragement of citizen participation in Jordan’s social and political development. In cultivating responsible participative citizenship, Partners-Jordan seeks to improve avenues for civic collaboration wherever possible. PJ has spearheaded multiple projects in the fields of Social Accountability, Public participation, Civic collaboration, Good governance, Innovation, and Widening Civic spaces as well as Democratic participation, Active citizenship, Anti-corruption, and Social Justice.
PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC
Caritas Czech Republic is the largest provider of social and health services in the Czech Republic and offers help to people in need both in the Czech Republic and abroad and operates a wide network of social, health and humanitarian services of more than 300 charities and cooperates with the Caritas Internationalis and the Caritas Europe network. Caritas Czech Republic is a non-governmental not-for-profit organization and part of the Roman Catholic Church and its work is based on Christian principles. The humanitarian and development aid of Caritas has representation in 29 countries of the world (eg Zambia, Iraq, Moldova, Mongolia, etc.) mainly in the fields of health, social care and education. It also supports agriculture and civil society.
The Central European Journal of International and Security Studies (CEJISS) was founded in December 2006 as an autonomous wing of the Department of International Relations and European Studies at Metropolitan University Prague. The initial goal was to develop, and project globally, a uniquely Central European take on unfolding international and security issues and at first focused on scholars and topics from the four Central European states – the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and the Slovak Republic. By the time of the first issue however, it became clear that CEJISS was also capable of acting as a platform for non-Central European scholars to present their academic research to a more regionalized audience. From issue 1:1 in June 2007 until the present, CEJISS has become, quite literally, a two-way street—it helps Central European scholars enter international academia and international scholars enter Central Europe.
The Euro-Gulf Information Centre (EGIC) is an initiative that builds socio-political, strategic, cultural and economic bridges between the people of Europe and the Arabian Gulf. Founded in October 2015 as a legal — not for profit — Association, in Rome, Italy, EGIC draws on the expertise of a multitude of scholars, policy makers, economists and members of European and Gulf civil societies to enhance inter-regional relations.

Political Prisoners.eu is an association mainly focusing on the issue of political prisoners of the communist regime in Czechoslovakia. The official name in Czech is Spolek Političtí vězni.cz. The association has collected the oral historical testimonies of former political prisoners and tries to popularize their history in various ways. Among other things, it has produced several publications and restored the educational trail ‘Jáchymov Hell’ in Jáchymov. Organisation is a member of the Platform of European Memory and Conscience.

You are placed in a part-time internship (10-15 hours/week) and enroll in a course that helps you understand and navigate the international workplace.

The World as your Classroom
Your internship course combines a live classroom setting with asynchronous components to make the most of online learning. Ask and answer questions in real time, share your experiences from your week of work, and connect with other gap students conducting virtual internships.
Who is CET?
CET Academic Programs is a study abroad organization that has been developing and operating innovative educational programs abroad since 1982. Originally “China Educational Tours,” CET began operations in Beijing, later expanding to other locations around the world. Today, CET offers a varied portfolio of semester, summer, and customized programs around the world for college, high school, pre-college, and gap year students.

From pre-program preparation to post-program, CET provides you with the support you need every step of the way.
We help you land a suitable internship and make sure you’re prepared. And after you get started, we stay in close touch with your host organization to provide support all semester long.
Your textbooks and course supplies are covered.
For an additional fee of $425, you can opt for an official School of Record transcript.
To be eligible for a Gap at CET program, you:
- Must be 18 or order at the time of program participation
- Should have a high school diploma but are not yet enrolled at a college or university degree program
- Are recommended to have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Admissions decisions are made on a case-by-case basis, so students with lower GPAs are still encouraged to apply.
