Computer Science Electives in Siena
Spring 2022 marked the addition of four Computer Science courses to the slate of electives at CET Siena during the fall, spring, and summer terms:
- CS 1110 Introduction to Programming
- CS 3330 Computer Architecture
- CS 4414 Operating Systems
- CS 4750 Database Systems
These courses have been selected in close collaboration with the Department of Computer Science at the University of Virginia, our partner and School of Record for CET Siena. The addition of these courses will help expand access for STEM students interested in studying abroad in Italy.
Italy has a long history of being a world leader in the applied sciences, thanks to scientists and engineers such as Leonardo da Vinci, Galileo Galilei, and Guglielmo Marconi. The first mainframe computer systems were developed by the Italian company Olivetti and the first commercial microprocessor was designed by Italian Federico Faggin.
CET Siena will continue to offer students a strong foundation to study Italian language and culture and take area studies courses in art history, global studies, international relations, media studies, politics, and women, gender and sexuality studies.
Applications for Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 are open, see the program page for more details.
