One day, friends and I decided to shop thrift and explore the city. We had walked around, taking in all the beautiful sites, and stumbled upon this church. This was one of the first things that caught my eye, the first of many in this gorgeous city. What you are looking at is Kostel sv. Antonína Paduánského, or the Church of St. Anthony of Padua, which was built in the early 20th century.
CET immerses us in Czech culture from day one. This is a traditional Czech meal, something that I’m growing to love. This is duck breast, cabbage, and potatoes with a delicious savory broth.
This is the Powder Tower, one of the most incredible things I’ve seen. It is from the Gothic era, one of the original city towers which was built in the 15th century.
Prague has the most beautiful architectural styles I’ve ever seen, and walking through the streets feels nothing short of a fairytale. This isn’t a monumental street, but just one of the regular streets you may find yourself walking through the city.
This is the Čertovka, which is a canal in Prague. While on a walking tour with CET, we were able to see unique sites like this, which is also referred to as “Little Prague Venice.” While walking around, we got to see many of the medieval mills around this area.
Český Krumlov! This city is a UNESCO heritage site, meaning that it has been preserved as it was for hundreds of years. This town was first mentioned in the 13th century but has existed since roughly 5000 BCE. This is truly one of the most beautiful towns I have ever visited, and it has so many charming qualities. We got to see the town through an overnight trip with CET.
Pictured here are Fiona, Annie, and Niko! We had the fantastic chance to go to a hockey game, a Czech favorite. I didn’t realize how intense the games were, and as we sat back and watched with our “pivo”, we could join in on the intense Praha spirit.
Our classes connect with the city directly because we live in a town with so much history. Pictured here is my professor for my Central European Studies class, one of the most exciting classes I’ve ever taken. In this class, we genuinely learn that history parallels the present day.
Prague Castle! This is one of the biggest castle complexes in the world, with construction happening throughout different art periods of Prague. This is the castle’s cathedral, with some of the most stunning architecture.
Another side of the castle was constructed during the Gothic period. It’s so cool how one castle can have different sides that look nothing alike. We got a full castle tour with CET, with our coordinator Simona being our tour guide.
