Photos by Mercedes Chen (The George Washington University), Student Correspondent CET Beijing, Fall 2019 The streets of Beijing are busy in the evening as the sun begins to set. Upon arriving in Beijing, we quickly unpacked and set out to find delicious hotpot for dinner. The food in the dining halls on campus is cheap and delicious! We enjoyed getting to know each other and our roommates in English before the start of the Language Pledge. My Chinese roommate always helps me practice my tones and new vocabulary before we get dinner together. Me in Tiananmen Square standing in front of the Forbidden City! There are bikes everywhere that you can unlock and use with various apps. The feast CET treats our class to after every weekly test on Fridays. We took a CET group trip to the Summer Palace in Beijing. Walking beneath the trees and through the gardens of the Summer Palace was refreshing and relaxing. The lake of the Summer Palace was full of people enjoying the great weather in boats. Another area of the lake in the Summer Palace. There were a lot of people exploring the Summer Palace. In the evenings, parks are full of people dancing, playing badminton, exercising, and socializing.
