We believe that engaging high school students and graduates in study abroad helps inform their personal, educational, and professional goals—all during a highly influential time in their lives. And with a portfolio of programs that offer something for everyone, students can explore their own interests as they build confidence, experience college-level learning, and try out the independence of campus living in a safe and supportive environment.
Individual Attention with Intention
Pre-college cohorts range from five to twenty-five students per program. These smaller program groups encourage a more supportive environment in which students can enjoy both one-on-one and group interactions with faculty and residential staff. For programs with more students, additional residential staff are hired to maintain a 10:1 minimum for our student-to-staff ratio.
Skill-Building for Life After High School
Our programs are designed to effortlessly integrate skill-building in students’ daily lives. Whether that’s sharpening critical thinking and writing skills in preparation for college-level learning, exposing students to a host of differing perspectives, disciplines, and majors, or even simply setting students up to manage their own time—students come back from study abroad primed for life after high school graduation.
College Credit + Transcript
Through our partnership with Dickinson College, every Pre-College at CET student (including the China Fieldwork Studies semester) is awarded lower-level college credit on an official transcript upon successful completion of their program. This transcript can be used in college applications to transfer credit, depending on the institution they ultimately attend. Students don’t just feel better prepared for college and the challenges of higher education, they’ve already got a head start.
