When the decision to study abroad became an avoidable reality, I found myself engulfed in uncertainty. The thought of a ten-week-long study abroad program seemed daunting, and I tried every trick to avoid thinking about it. Despite the influence of my classmates, who were eagerly preparing to study abroad together in the same country, I couldn’t bring myself to join them. The fear of being surrounded by familiarity and missing out on new experiences consumed me. However, everything changed when I stumbled upon CET Taiwan. The excitement and intrigue that welled up within me were beyond compare.
The decision to study abroad in Taiwan was undeniably nerve-wracking for me. I knew I would be stepping into the unknown without the comfort of familiar faces. However, it was precisely that exact challenge that excited me. Since arriving here just over a week ago, I have been immersed in new and exhilarating experiences. Taiwan is a country brimming with vibrancy, friendliness, and culinary delights. Everywhere I turn, there’s a chance to learn something new, whether it’s through street conversations or reading the characters on buildings. Each moment has proved to be a constant learning experience.
Though it has only been a little over a week, it feels as though I have been in Taiwan for months, and it’s the best feeling in the world. I have quickly adapted to my district, established a morning routine, and even discovered my favorite 7-Eleven breakfast (a must-try)! The anticipation for the upcoming nine weeks is beyond words. I have already faced challenges that have challenged the way I think and have pushed me beyond my limits, both academically and in terms of personal growth. The rigorous classes and the journey of stepping out of my comfort zone have opened up endless possibilities for self-discovery.
Overall, my initial hesitation has transformed into sheer excitement as I continue to embark on my study abroad adventure in Taiwan. The decision to choose this captivating country has proven to be a life-changing one already. From immersing myself in the vibrant culture to embracing the challenges that come with living in a foreign country, every moment has been an immense joy. As I look forward to the weeks ahead, I am grateful for the opportunity to grow, learn, and explore this country that has already become a home away from home.
