Photo Essay: CET Prague

A few friends and I spent last weekend in Edinburgh! It was snowing in Prague, but there were beautiful blue skies in the UK. I visited Scotland with 6 other girls from CET, 5 of whom I live with in Slezská–we celebrated our first month abroad while in Edinburgh!Flora metro station, or as I think of it, my second home. One of my favorite things about Prague, as cheesy as it may sound, is the public transportation system–it’s very reliable. You get especially familiar with the tram and metro when you live a little farther away from the center like we do in Slezská.Connected to the Flora metro system, which is only about 2 minutes from my apartment, is the Flora mall! The mall is home to an H&M, an Albert’s (grocery store), a vodafone, and a movie theater, amongst other things. The mall is super convenient to have so close, and I practically live in Albert’s.Home sweet Slezská! Our apartment building is home to a great little burger bar on the first floor. We’re on a first name basis with the bartender, and regularly stop by for drinks and wings. This semester my goal is to collect a postcard from every city I visit so that my walls don’t look so bare–I think I’m off to a pretty good start. My room has beautiful wood floors and a balcony that I’ll never leave when the weather starts to warm up.If you visit our apartment on any given day you’ll be sure to spot at least one of us hanging out in our living room doing homework. My roommates and I cook all of our meals together (Anyu cooks, me and Juliet do the dishes) and usually eat together in the living room to catch up after a long day. It’s also home to Bachelor Tuesdays!Every other week everyone in our apartment building from CET gets together for a potluck dinner. This week we decided to do an appetizer night. My roommates and I made broccoli bites and mac and cheese bites.Amongst the other contributions this week were bruschetta, caprese toasts, and of course–dino nuggets. The soundtrack for the night featured some classics from the Mamma Mia soundtrack. This week’s potluck dinner was hosted by the boys upstairs–they even have a chandelier! Our building has three different CET apartments, and it’s great knowing you always have people to hang out with that are only a floor away.
