Howard in Colombia

Study race, identity, ethnicity

At Howard in Colombia, you’ll study race and identity through the Afro-Colombian lens. The program’s curriculum, developed in consultation with Howard University, allows you to examine the sociopolitical, economic, artistic, and historical representations of race and ethnicity in Colombia.

Find your niche in Colombia

This program lets you pack so much into your semester abroad. Your base is Cali, the 2nd biggest city in Colombia. Practice what you learned in Spanish class at the produce market. Check out the live music scene with your Colombian roommate. Explore Colombia’s mountains, beaches, and waterways. Learn to salsa. What will you find in Colombia?

Backed by Howard University

This program was inspired and developed by Howard University faculty. A Howard faculty member, Professor Bahiyyah Mohammed, teaches one of two core courses. But the best part is that you don’t need to be a Howard student to attend. Students from all schools are welcome to apply.
