CET Florence
Summer

Attention from Staff

In a city with plenty of study abroad options to choose from, CET Florence is one of the smallest programs you’ll find. And that means more individual attention for you. Have a question about your apartment? Want to volunteer? Need help finding a doctor? Staff go the extra mile for students. You’ll have everything you need for an exceptional summer.

Take the Courses You Need

Interested in Italy? Try Italian and European Politics. Need psych credits? Take Cross-Cultural Psychology. Want to go into business? Select International Marketing. Whatever your choice, the program’s academic quality is on par with what you’d have at home. Enjoy the inspiring courses you’re used to, and then head to your favorite trattoria after class.

Gateway to Europe

There’s so much to see and do in Florence, from climbing the Duomo to chatting with locals over a cappuccino. But the rest of Italy and all of Europe are at your doorstep, too. Each Friday morning, head to a new destination—hike at Interlaken, visit Monet’s Garden in Paris, explore the Italian coast, from Cinque Terre to Amalfi. The Italian train system couldn’t be easier, and the airport is just 30 minutes away. Buon viaggio!

Your transcript will come from Vanderbilt University if you’re a Vanderbilt student, or the University of Minnesota, CET’s School of Record, if you’re not.

Daily Life in Florence

Grab a few panini for a picnic in the Tuscan countryside. Watch the sun set from Piazzale Michelangelo. Sketch your favorite sculpture. Enjoy an aperitivo with local Italians. The only drawback to living in Florence is that every other place you live will pale in comparison.

CET Center

The CET Center is in a charming building within the historic city center, a short walk from the apartments. You’ll take most of your classes here. After class, use the computer lab, meet with instructors, or just hang out with CET friends.

Housing & Meals

You’ll share an apartment in the city center with CET peers. Apartments vary in size and layout but are all surrounded by museums, churches, cafés, night life, and restaurants. Interested in a homestay instead? We can set that up, too.

Outstanding Academics

Whatever your major, you’ll check a required class off your list, and work with amazing instructors while you’re at it. Or you can choose an elective that’s distinctly Italian. Embrace Florentine culture by taking Renaissance Art & Architecture—it meets at least half the time in a museum, church, or piazza. A chef introduces you to Tuscan delicacies in Food & Culture. Learn about Italy’s most influential family through The Medici: History and Legend of an Italian Dynasty. All it takes is a stroll through the Uffizi to bring their legacy to life.

CET & Vanderbilt University

CET partners with Vanderbilt University to operate this program. You get the best of both worlds—Vanderbilt’s outstanding academics + CET’s three decades of experience in study abroad. The best part: you don’t have to be a Vanderbilt student to attend. If you don’t go to Vanderbilt, simply apply to the program through CET. Your transcript will be issued by the University of Minnesota.

Application Requirements

CET’s admissions requirements include an online application form, a transcript, a foreign language writing sample, and one letter of recommendation. Our programs are designed for undergraduates who maintain an overall GPA of at least 3.0. However, admissions decisions are made on a case-by-case basis, so students with lower GPAs are encouraged to apply. CET programs are open to students from any US college or university.

Course Availability

Our goal is to offer every single course every term, but sometimes factors like faculty availability and program enrollment keep us from reaching that goal. If you’re concerned about needing to enroll in any one particular course, please contact us! We’ll try our best to get you the course you need.

What's Not Included

The program fee does not include round-trip transportation to & from Italy, meals, items & services of a personal nature, and medical expenses not covered by the insurance provided.

Homestay fees are not included in tuition. These additional fees cover lodging with daily breakfast and dinner. The homestay fee for Summer 2018 is $1,800.

CET reserves the right to increase quoted charges at any time without prior notification, based on increased instruction costs, exchange rate fluctuation or other cost increases beyond CET’s control. This right includes, but is not limited to, surcharging students for additional costs incurred due to under-enrollment in any given course.
