Brazilian Studies & Portuguese Language in São Paulo

Brazil's Time is Now

There is no better time to be in Brazil. Social movements are bursting at the seams as citizens demand new and expanded rights. The recent World Cup and the upcoming Olympic Games have brought the country worldwide media attention. Now is the time to experience for yourself the energy and possibility of this vibrant and transforming nation.

Go Where Tourists Don't Go

In this program, you’ll be an actor, not a spectator…get ready to jump on stage. Your Traveling Seminar takes you to Salvador da Bahia for a week of learning. Your courses get you meeting community leaders and spending a night in a homestay. And your local roommate is there to show you the city, teach you Portuguese slang, and tell you everything you need to know about life in Brazil.

Study Social Justice

You can’t learn about Brazil’s new ladder of opportunity without considering those whom the ladder has left behind. Learn about social movements, examine poverty, question inequality. Engage with residents in marginalized communities. Then use that new perspective to give back—volunteer at local non-profit and do your part to bring social justice to your home overseas.
