Today we went to the Revolutionary Museum and saw important historical figures during the Cuban Revolution against Batista’s dictatorship including Camilo Cienfuegos and Ernesto Guevara. There was also a section of the museum with military remains during important Cuban battles. There was the Granma which was the boat used when Fidel Castro returned from exile in Mexico with 82 people. We all had some trouble picturing 82 people on the boat, but Castro somehow made it work.
Afterwards we went to a farm where they grow organic food for the restaurant. They also have a social project that provides food for older people with lower incomes. The people staying there could sell things they’d made for some extra money. In the afternoon a few of us went to a market where people were very persistent in selling us bags and jewelry. One man even offered to pierce my nose in the market. Afterwards, we had really good coconut ice cream at an Iraní place.
