Activities Around Osaka

Visit Banpaku Park for hanami (cherry blossom viewing) in the spring, or go there for picnics in the fall. Take a biking tour of Kyoto. Sing your heart out at karaoke. Hike a nature trail. Learn to make sensu (handheld fans). Explore temples. Go on a city-wide scavenger hunt.

Each term, the program offers different activities that let you explore Osaka, learn about Japanese culture, practice your language skills, or just unwind with your classmates and roommates.

Weekend Away to a New Place

Let us show you a new place…somewhere that would be hard for you to get to on your own. Join your roommates on an overnight trip to Mie—visit a re-created ninja village, spend the night in a minshuku (Japanese-style housing), marvel at the sacred Wedded Rocks. Or head to In Kagawa—make pottery, stay at the first school for non-samurai children, and take in the peace and beauty of a Japanese garden.

Relax on a Day Trip

Spend the day with your roommates and classmates off the tourist map. Head to Arashiyama and hike through a bamboo grove or try Zen meditation at a beautiful temple. Or visit Arima and soak in the natural hot springs after trying out a ropes course in the mountains.
