Progress You Can Be Proud Of

Whether you’ve been long dedicated to Japanese language or just curious about Japan, a gap program in Osaka is the perfect way to kickstart your language skills and your college career. You’ll fly through your textbook alongside a small class of gap students and college undergraduates, uphold a limited language pledge, and participate in plenty of language activities that get you out the door—get ready to learn you’ve skipped a level when you head to college. Sound challenging? It is, but you’ll have the support of all faculty and staff, your local roommate, CET peers, and a front-loaded Japanese in Daily Life course to get you acclimated.

Language Project

Wrap up your semester with your Language Project. You choose a topic—Japanese fashion, aikido martial arts, or Japanese corporations—and go and interview locals about it. Then present your findings at a campus open house. Tie up everything you’ve learned and show off your newly minted language skills to a supportive group of peers, teachers, and community members. If you can give a formal presentation in Japanese, what can’t you do?
