Photo Essay: CET Taiwan
Photos by Sophie Gray, (University of Minnesota) Student Correspondent CET Taiwan, Summer 2018 A few of us participated in a Taipei-based cooking class called Ivy’s Kitchen, where we made 牛肉麵 (beef noodle soup),小籠包 (soup dumplings),and 鳳梨酥 (pineapple cakes).
The National Palace Museum has really beautiful scenery. This is a picture we took while walking back to the bus after our visit.
The pathway at the National Palace Museum is lined with lights and shrouded in trees, which is a nice break from the midday sun.
A rose and a temple.
Some scruffy friends we ran into. They were very friendly and insisted we stay longer and continue petting them.
A few of us went to visit Jiufen, a town a few hours east of Taipei. Halfway up the mountain in Jiufen is a really beautiful view of the town below (with me in the bottom, adding to the beautiful view).
Just one example of Jiufen’s beautiful architecture, which we really enjoyed.
Although slightly terrifying since I’m afraid of heights, the view from the Maokong Gondola in Taipei was pretty spectacular.
We were so excited to see Incredibles 2 that we had to take a picture (or three) to commemorate.
One of the strangest yet oddly satisfying claw machines I’ve come across yet here in Taiwan.
