Yesterday before dinner we were given the chance to buy juices if we wanted to. I could not pass up the opportunity because it had been almost a month since I had not had a juice like the ones I’m used to making at home. I was so excited to finally drink the juice that after mass, that was all I could think about. As we walked off the bus, I was confused because I couldn’t see any juice stores. All I could see around me were apartments, no juice store in sight. Then as we turned, hidden in a little corner was my holy grail! At last the juice store was within a few more steps. I ran up to look at the options, and the list was endless. There were so many combinations of fruits and vegetables that I had never even thought of, I was blown away.
The only ingredient that I absolutely wanted was ginger. I love ginger so much that they could’ve given me any juice as long as it had that spicy kick from the ginger. After looking up and down for a while at the menu, I decided on ordering pineapple and ginger. My juice was going to be simple but delicious. The pineapple’s sweetness would pair perfectly with the ginger’s tingling sensation of spice. About seven minutes after my order was finally called, I practically jumped to the counter to grab my juice. I took my first sip and I was in love. I could not have been any happier with my juice selection. Exactly one week before we all flew back to the states, my pineapple and ginger juice was my piece of home away from home.
