Some of the students get creative gathering/making props for their set.  In “Prosim vas” stuffed creatures and many other items from Barrandov studio’s Prop and Costume division (http://www.barrandov.com/) caught the eyes of Jackie Goncalves (American), Viviana Gonzales (American), Felix Penzarella (American) and Pam Vinal (American) when envisioning the psychiatrist’s office that is central to their plot.  The detailed-oriented group even created a fake diploma and brochure as props.

The hardest part about making a film is to find the appropriate actors.  This is especially difficult when the story calls for child actors and you are working with the 35mm format.  The shots need to be precise and well-planned, which is hard to do with children. Melvin Benson (Syracuse), Harold Erkins (Syracuse) and Hyeri Lee’s (Syracuse) story is about cross-cultural relationship features two child actors.  They struggled to  capture the actors and action amidst a busy playground.

Some students have outdoor shots, so luckily the weather in Prague finally turned spring-like last week, becoming a perfect setting for the making of a character-centered film about an actor who wants to be Jean Paul Belmondo.  Colin Brant (Bennington), Toji Morimoto (American), and Danny Peters (American) used a park and an apartment nearby to set the scenes for their film:

In the last week of the program, the students have a final screening and critique by their professors.  This took most of the day as there were 13 films to screens and a panel of professors who critiqued the films.  In the end, all the students had successful final projects.  After the final screening, we had a public screening in the evening for actors, producers, friends and family.   Finally, the FAMU film semester ended with a graduation ceremony and a closing dinner.
