Born and raised in the Czech Republic, I am a senior at Yale College majoring in History and East Asian Studies. I studied Japanese last summer (2010) in Osaka. I have a lot of great Osaka memories — class trip to Himeji, going to Onsen, visit to Panasonic, etc. But, in fact, what I enjoyed the most were everyday moments — getting groceries with my Japanese roommate or having a chat with the obasan next door.

Hi! My name is Alaina Houser and I am studying Interior Design at The George Washington University. Studying abroad in Osaka, Japan has been the coolest experience of my life and this experience  positively impacted me. Most memorable moment: watching one of housemates perform in a hip-hop and breakdancing concert.

I will be a fourth year student at Soka University of America, and I completed CET’s intensive summer program in Osaka in 2011. I do not have just one favorite memory but after the ending ceremony, almost everyone from the program went to the local Big Echo (karaoke) and just sang the night away. In just two months, the ryugakusei (international students) and our Japanese roommates became one SUPER close family. I will forever cherish my time in Osaka and I know many of us felt the same way about the program.
