Hello! My name is Max Goto. I study at Eastern Connecticut State University. I studied abroad at Capital Normal University in Beijing, China in the Chinese Studies & Internship program. My favorite memory while abroad was the group trip to Xi’an. It was so well planned and I loved spending time outside of the classroom with all of my teachers and classmates.

My name is Narayani and I am a student of Wellesley College. I am majoring in economics. In the summer of 2012 I attended the CET Chinese Studies & Internship in Beijing program. My best memories in China include my interactions with seniors at Tuanjiehu Foreign Languages Association, an NGO where I taught English. Our discussions about Chinese society, comparisons between China, India and America helped me observe Chinese culture closely while also improving my understanding of my own country. The seniors’ energy, enthusiasm and curiosity were so high that I kept visiting at every opportunity I could find.

I am an environmental studies and Chinese language & literature double-major at Connecticut College, and I studied abroad in the CET Chinese Studies & Internship program in the fall of 2011. While I was there, two other students and I biked 100 miles from Beijing to the Bohai Sea and got to see some parts of the country that foreigners rarely see. It was an amazing experience and I will never forget interviewing farmers about pollution issues in rural China or having groups of children run after us as we travelled through their towns.

I am a senior at Kalamazoo College with an environmental studies major and Chinese minor. I studied abroad in Beijing during my junior fall and winter quarters. I was able to travel a lot while in China, but some of my favorite memories are from when I was exploring “real life” Beijing, wandering through hutong’s (alleys) and bargaining for trinkets, talking to locals and showing my brother around the city. He was impressed and surprised by my ability to speak and understand the language, in addition to being able to find my way around a city with a population greater than our home state!
