My application includes a visa application…isn’t it too early for this?

The visa process is lengthy for some countries. In some instances, the process is so lengthy that you need to get started at the same time as you apply for admission in order to ensure that you’ll have your visa in hand by the start of the program.

Please rest assured that we keep visa information separate from application information, and responses to any visa-related questions in any part of your online account will not affect your admission into the program.

  • If you are studying in Brazil, we ask you to start the FBI clearance process, which is a requirement of most Brazilian visa applications.
  • If you are studying in the Czech Republic, your entire visa application is due shortly after the application deadline, so we furnish you with materials to get started on your visa application as soon as you begin your program application. United States citizens do not require a visa to study in the Czech Republic for the summer.
  • If you are studying in Japan, you must complete a form in order for CET and the host university in Japan to process a Certificate of Eligibility on your behalf. You then use this certificate to apply for a visa. United States citizens do not require a visa to study in Japan for the summer.
  • If you are studying in India or Taiwan, you must complete a form in order for CET to obtain supporting documentation that you will use to apply for a visa.
