Beijing Chinese Language Program Intensive Chinese for All Students, Offered All Year Round
The goals of CET's Beijing Chinese Language program are twofold: rapid improvement of language skills and a solid understanding of contemporary Chinese society. Weekly themes integrate the intensive curriculum--a lecture class might introduce the "Chinese family"; family planning policies are debated during drill class; students interview a Chinese family for language practicum. A full-time language pledge and dorm rooms shared with local Chinese students round out this rigorous program.
Based in Beijing at the site of the CET's Beijing Chinese Language program, our four-week Janterm provides students a running start to the spring term. The curriculum, designed to emphasize oral skills and build a foundation for further language study, requires constant interaction between students and their teachers, their Chinese roommates and local Beijing'ers. The full-time language pledge further helps students "warm up" for the longer spring term that follows.
