Protests in Irbid
CET Academic Programs received news over the weekend that a small protest in downtown Irbid led to a confrontation between protestors and the security forces. No one was harmed and CET’s staff in Irbid have confirmed that all students are safe and were not involved in the protest. CET is in direct contact with a public diplomacy officer at the US Embassy in Amman. As of now, the Embassy has not issued any new warden messages for travelers and residents of Jordan. CET’s staff in Irbid have been monitoring the recent events and have advised students to stay away from any protests or large gatherings. Demonstrations in Irbid have been overwhelmingly peaceful and are occurring mostly in the downtown area, far from the CET center. However, we take such protests seriously and will continue to monitor events in Irbid should the situation escalate and spread.
